IITM decided to implement a workflow solution during July 2010, that will connect various departments like Accounts, Payroll, Academics, Administration, ICSR and General administration. As a part of this roll out, it would also like to look applications that are currently used in these departments and ascertain its relevance/usability and then either enhance/ build/ replace them with newer systems.

Our Services includes - Vehicle pass application outside workflow, Vendor registration website, Academic website and RateContract website.

Our support will be provided for the services mentioned here through helpdesk@rt.iitm.ac.in or Extn 5992 during working hours. Faculty/staff are requested to use the General -> Feedback within workflow application to report any issue within workflow. If you have issues in accessing workflow, then email or call us.

The increased student intake in recent years was accompanied by an increase in faculty strength. IIT-Madras now supports more than 9000 students and around 1300 employees. The Institute began the process of providing a new suite of electronic data services to students and faculty in January 2012, starting with Academic processes. This was followed by a switch over to using Tally for employee Payroll in the 2012-2013 financial year.

The implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, or what is internally refer to as a Workflow, has now matured to include online services in different sections of Academics, Administration, Accounts, Stores & Purchase and ICSR.Workflow group at the Computer Centre works with various sections in the institute to document process requirement, develop specifications, perform business acceptance testing, support system usage and monitor change requirements.The faculty, staff and students of the institute are seeing the benefits of an institute-wide effort to adopt an ERP solution.

Each of the administrative and academic processes has been mapped, documented and simplified. The data platform is flexible and can connect to Tally for accounting and payroll, and open source software such as Moodle for academics.The workflow team worked with different users from various sections to re-engineer selected processes to streamline operations. Reports from workflow have been widely used in admin, accounts and academics to easily manage the day-to-day operations.

Workflow submissions are enforced in processes such as Leave, LTC, faculty visits, student course registrations, grade approvals, Annual performance appraisal Form for non-teaching staff etc. Based on the user feedback, change requests are raised to implement few modifications in these processes as well.Workflow is also helping administrators from various sections to analyze the data collected and develop measurable outcomes.Our ultimate goal is to align our internal processes perfectly to support our vision for IIT-Madras.
