Shri. M. Jeevanantham joined the services of the Institute as Laboratory Attendant on 30 August 1995 at Applied Mechanics Department. He involved in conducting classes and research assisting of Strength of Material Laboratory. Strain gauge fixing and equipment’s measurement, Operating of high vacuum pump, Hydraulic press and Robot operating. He also Involved in fabrication works, Electrical Electronics, computer equipment’s maintenance, office automation.

He was appointed as Junior Mechanic on 17 November 2004 at Aerospace Engineering Department. He was redesignated as Junior Technician on 2 March 2009 under the Recruitment and Career Progression Scheme (RCPS). He was given a financial upgradation with effect from 17 November 2014 under the Modified Assured Career Progression Scheme (MACPS). He was promoted as Senior Technician on 7 February 2020 under the Recruitment and Promotion Norms (RPN).

Shri. Jeevanantham's responsibilities at the Computer Centre from the year 2008 can be described as assisting with the operational aspects of almost all the support activities, including power supply, air conditioning, networking and software and related services. Though the Computer Centre itself has become a back-end operation or physical presence of users, Jeevanantham has continued to support users before and after this transformation with the utmost attention to user concerns. He has enabled reliable operation of academic and hostel zone core network components by ensuring proper air conditioning and uninterrupted power. Many a user would acknowledge his “beyond the call of duty” efforts with setting up of wi-fi systems. Jeevanantham's actions remind us that user-centric services lead to satisfied users.

The Faculty, Staff and Students of IIT Madras in general and Computer Centre in particular, wish Shri. M. Jeevanantham, a long, happy, healthy and prosperous future and success in all his endeavours.
